Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a dental specialty focused on aligning the bite and straightening the teeth. You may need to see an orthodontist if you have crooked, overlapping, or gapping teeth.

Common orthodontic treatments include traditional braces, clear aligners, and removable retainers.

Metal brackets for many years have been the most used. They are used with stainless steel wires to gently move teeth over time.

Metal braces are visible when you smile. You can choose clear or tooth-colored ligatures to make your braces less noticeable. Or, if you’re feeling festive, you can choose brightly colored ligatures.

Ceramic or transparent brackets work in the same way as metal brackets. The key difference is that the brackets, wires, and ligatures are tooth-colored, so they blend in with your smile.

Sometimes called “invisible braces”, clear aligners are an alternative to braces. Instead of braces and wires, clear aligners are custom made to straighten teeth.

With these systems, you wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks. Then switch to the next game in the series. Unlike metal braces, clear aligners are removable. You should only remove your aligners to eat, drink and brush your teeth.

Maxillary Orthopedics.

It consists of correcting irregularities in the bones and teeth of children when they are still in the growth stage.

This treatment seeks to correct disorders through removable or fixed devices depending on each case, where they stimulate or slow down bone growth, correct bad habits and harmonize the appearance of the face.

They seek to significantly correct the deep bite and occlusion of the patient, malposition of the dental pieces, that the maxillary bones have a directed growth, having a correct position of the infant’s jaw to prevent dental extractions.
